Float
Utopia Wellness Center is excited to bring the experience of Float Therapy to Cumberland County in the warm and welcoming environment of our facility. Float Therapy is currently one of the fastest growing wellness services in the United States and Europe, with significant benefits both physically and mentally.
While Floatation Therapy is not a magic cure, it can be helpful at managing or improving many conditions. Always consult your Physician about any medical or psychological concerns you are having.
A: Float therapy is the experience of floating in a tank filled with a high concentration of Epsom salt water heated to skin temperature, with many physical and mental benefits including relaxation, pain management, stress relief, and more. As you weightlessly float above the surface, you have the effect of zero gravity, and can choose soft music or silence as well as dim lighting or darkness. It has been described by some as “heaven on earth”.
A: If you are prepared to truly let go, you will have a unique experience that you never had before. Take time to relax and shut the world out for a while, and the lasting effects can be life changing. Float sessions can be 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes, during which you can reach many levels of relaxation and meditative states. Scientific research has found that 3 floats done within a 10-21 day period produced the best results.
A: Float tank sessions are private, so most people choose to wear nothing at all. You may find that even the fabric of a swimsuit rubbing or pressing against your body is a distraction. Non-swim related garments are not allowed (jeans).
A: We recommend you bring any grooming products you may want to use post-float. We provide shower facilities and toiletries, ear plugs and shower caps, towels and a styling area as well as salon blow dry services.
A: Yes, it is completely safe for pregnant women to float. Every pregnancy is unique, so please ask your healthcare provider if you are unsure.
A: Yes, it is safe for children to float, however, some children may experience fear from floating due to the darkness and small space. Children may float with their parents written consent.
A: Anyone with one or more of the following conditions should not use float tanks: uncontrolled epilepsy, drug or alcohol intoxication, infectious disease, open wounds and serious psychological conditions.
A: You can float with a full stomach or an empty stomach, but in order to avoid focusing on the sounds and feelings of your digestive tract, experts recommend eating an hour or two before your float.
A: The interior of a float tank is exceptionally sanitary. Each tank has up to 1,100 pounds of Epsom salt dissolved in the water, which raises the salinity to levels that are inhospitable to bacteria, including microbes and other pathogens. The Solution is sterilized between each session through a process of commercial-grade circulation, filtration and purification using a combination of UV (Ultraviolet Light) and Ozone. No harsh chemicals (Chlorine, Bromine etc) are used in the solution at our facilities.
Additionally, the surfaces are disinfected using SOL-U-GUARD , a hospital grade disinfectant that is safe for contact with children and animals.
